2010-05-04: Schedule Changes

The time has, sadly, come for this. I wished it hadn’t, but it did anyway. After today, the Nail will be dropping to once-a-week updates, on Tuesdays.

I tried to put this off as long as I could, but it’s become a question of quality or quantity at this point. When I started this site in August of last year, I had a twenty-post backlog, and I thought I should easily be able to keep that up. Four thousand words seemed like little enough to manage on a weekly basis, not counting planning time for new materials. That would be enough for two slightly wordy posts and the start of a third, which would keep me slowly growing my backlog over time.

As of this morning, it’s down to three. I could go into the details, but suffice to say that, even after having pared everything out of my life that I can afford to remove, I still have too much on my plate. I work a more-than-full-time job during the week, I have my family to support, my friends to nurture, and a couple of other big projects in my life that, at least for the time being, have to be a major focus of my life. I’m planning a move in a couple of months, and then another next year, Magnum Opus permitting. I just have a lot happening around me presently… more than I can juggle. So, something had to give.

I wish it hadn’t been this, but this was all that was left that could be safely cut back. So, I’m cutting it back. The Nail will continue to update weekly, on Tuesdays. Thankfully, nothing will change on the production side, but this should mean that, instead of “some weeks I stay even and some weeks I fall behind,” I should be “some weeks I stay even and some weeks I get ahead.” This means that, over time, I should be back to building a back catalog of options and ideas from which to pick. I might even be able to post extra bits on a whim, which would be fun.

At any rate, I hope that you’ll all stick with me through this. Thanks for continuing to read!
